Elkhorn Barn Owls

Elkhorn Barn Owls (Private feed. Request passcode.)

This barn owl box, designed by Humane Wildlife Control, was installed in early 2016. A pair of barn owls took to the box quickly and successfully raised 6 chicks. They all fledged in July. Since then, the box has been occupied by adult barn owls - we believe the same pair.

The box was cleaned and a new camera was installed in November.

Mating began in December. The first egg was laid on January 14th. Eggs typically hatch about 32 days later.

This barn owl box, designed by Humane Wildlife Control, was installed in November, 2016. A resident pair of barn owls - Teco and Lotte, took to the nest box quickly.

Lotte laid her first egg on January 3rd. By the 15th there were 6 eggs! She will brood her eggs constantly, only taking a break in the early evening to stretch her wings. Teco supplies her meals that are cached in the far corners. The eggs should start hatching around the 3rd of February.
