Mentorship Program: $4,890.00


What's included:

- Twelve (12) live 2-hour group sessions on Zoom

- Six (6) 30-minute one-on-one coaching sessions

Additional private sessions available during and after the mentorship.

This career-building program prepares participants to launch a professional, humane wildlife services business.

We are looking for 6-10 individuals who are self-motivated, not afraid of hard work or getting dirty, who have a deep, unwavering respect for nature, compassion for animals, and who want to start their career in humane wildlife services. 


Your Instructors

Instruction is led by Rebecca Dmytryk, a nationally recognized human-wildlife conflict specialist with more than forty years of experience working with wildlife. Rebecca is the author of Wildlife Search and Rescue: A Guide for First Responders (Wiley 2012) and the forthcoming Poison-Free Rodent Control: A Guide for DIYers and Professionals. She is the CEO of Humane Wildlife Control Inc., which she operates alongside her husband and business partner, Duane Titus. Rebecca has played a leading role in developing humane, non-lethal wildlife control standards in the United States, with a strong focus on poison-free rodent management, and urban coyote intervention.

Instruction is also provided by Duane Titus, who brings a lifetime of experience in the construction trades. Duane provides the technical guidance essential to effective structural repairs and exclusion strategies, and the proper selection and safe use of tools. Much of his coaching will include proper inspections, problem-solving, job site etiquette, risk management, and work ethics.


Sample Curriculum:

1. Orientation, Philosophy & Infrastructure Participant introductions, overview of non-lethal poison-free approach, discuss essential business fundamentals, including structure and early setup considerations.

2. Consumer-Facing Elements & Internal Systems Includes branding considerations, online presence, call handling and scheduling options, bookkeeping systems.

3. Field Operations Common human-wildlife conflicts, review of most common species involved, preparing for field service, human safety considerations.

4. Introduction to Wildlife Exclusion Various forms of exclusion methods, seasonal considerations, how to build and install one-way devices.

5. Rodent Exclusion Strategies Instruction on rodent-proofing from start to finish, including inspections, structural repairs, materials, our proprietary live-catch trapping process.

6. Repellants & Deterrents Review options for deterrents and repellents, habitat modification.

7. Review, Exam, Post-Exam Discussion

8. Capture and Handling Appropriate equipment, proper handling techniques, basic wildlife first aid, reuniting healthy young.

9. Real Scenarios Discuss recent or current cases. Guest Speaker TBA.
